How to become a Pilot in India- Step by Step

So how to become a pilot. As nothing is impossible in life same way there is always a way to our dream of becoming a pilot. There are many types of Pilot such as Commercial Pilot, Army Pilot, Airline Transport Pilot, Multi-Crew Pilot, Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Certified Flight Instructor, The Multi Engine Rating.

Commercial Pilot is the one who operates an airplane for transportation of passengers or freight for other commercial purposes. CPL is a commercial pilot licence it permits the person to act as a pilot and also he/she is paid for the work.

Army Pilot who are highly-trained and skilled aviation experts in army. It is component of Indian Army. Most Candidate does not require higher education or prior enlistment.

Airline Transport Pilot it is the highest level of aircraft pilot certificate. It is the most professional  Pilot jobs. Pilots should focus on the individual goal and eventually they can get ATP certificate.

Multi Crew  Pilot here the individual is allowed to serve as an first officer of an airline with limited knowledge and training .

Private Pilot here the pilot gets licence to act as a pilot in command of an aircraft privately.

Instrument Rating here the pilots gets qualification of EASA IR(A) that extends the privileges to fly according to instrument flight rules.

Certified Flight Instructor they instruct flight for single engine aircraft also teaches instrument flying.

The Multi engine Rating it qualifies pilot to fly with more than one engine. It is required to fly for most commercial airline jobs.

How to become a Pilot in India

Eligibility to become a pilot:

 

After  class 12th (i) Complete your 12th/equivalent examination with minimum 50% (ii) must have Physics and Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12th( iii) maximum age limit is required 17 years. After graduation ( i)Minimum age to apply is 19 years (ii) maximum age to apply is 23 years (iii) three years course in any discipline from recongnised university with Physics and Mathematics in 10+2 level  (iv) BE/B TECH with minimum 60% marks in aggregate.

 

Pilot Entrance Exams:

To become a pilot, After 12th there are few entrances exams conducted in India to become Pilot (i)IGRUA entrance exams (ii) NDA entrance exams (iii) Cadet Pilot Program Selection test. After Graduation A pilot aptitudes test of the graduates is held. The Selection is made up of three stages written, interview and Pilot aptitude test.

Salary of a Pilot in India: Commercial Pilot Salary Starting from 1.5 Lakhs per Month to 5 to 6 Lakhs Per Month on International routes. Military Pilots Salary starting from 7 Lakhs per Month to 10 Lakhs Per Month at senior level Private Pilots Salary starting from 2 Lakhs Per Month to 8  Lakhs Per Month at Senior level. The average Salary of a Airline Pilot is 4 Lakhs per month.

Qualification to become a pilot:

To get a SPL Student Pilot license the qualification should be (i) class 10th pass (ii) Medical certificate of fitness (iii) Age should be 16 years (iv)Security Clearance (v)Bank  gurantee of  Rs 10,000(i)To become a Commercial Pilot the basic qualification should be  (i ) 12th pass with Physics and Mathematics (ii) PPl experience in the last 3 years. To get a private pilot license the qualification should be (i) Medical fitness  certificate (ii) minimum 17 years of age.

How to become female Commercial Pilot:

She should be at least 18 years. She should be medically fit and acquire a medical  certificate from the  Civil aviation authority before flight training. A student pilot is also required. Exams are also conducted in India for females Indian Air Force Women Pilot Exams that is SSB Tests. Minimum qualification required to become a women pilot: Graduate with Physics and Mathematics at 12th. Age limit must be 19 to 23 years 25 years for those having Commercial Pilot License.

Pilot Training  criteria in India:

  • First get the SPL for getting SPL a candidate must be 12th pass
  • Candidate must be minimum 16 years of age which is recognized by Govt of India.
  • Required Medical certificate, bank gurantee and security clearance.
  • Apply for Entrance exams.

 

  • After getting SPL a candidate has to go through Private Pilot Training PPL which involves sixty hours of flying.
  • The minimum age for the course is 27 years.
  • Qualification must be 10+2 and also required a medical certificate issued by Armed force central Medical Establishment.

Q-Is becoming a pilot hard in India?

A- If we work hard to achieve anything in life nothing is impossible to become a pilot in India is not hard but the training one has to go through is tough and extensive. there is no regular schedule and it is expected to be physically fit for the job whenever called.

Q- Do Pilots get holidays?

A-It varies from airlines to airlines. Freshers can get holiday 2 weeks after the first year and after certain period it goes up to 4-6 weeks.

basically in India Students run for Engineering and medical courses  but pilot is also a excellent profession that students must choose.

Some skills pilots must have Clear Communication, Team working Skills, Leadership, Confidence, Attitude and Self Discipline , Able to understand Technical Information and Quick thinking skills.

Becoming a pilot makes you Stronger. It makes us a better planner, a logical decision maker it teaches us time management and patient and how to operate safely.

To be a successful Pilot in India one must be hardworking,determined, Patient and Honest.
